Gas Water Heaters & How They Work

How it works

The Tap/shower/bath is opened.
Water flows through the unit activating the waterflow sensor.
The unit opens the gas valve.
Gas is ignited and the flame is automatically set to the default value (this varies from unit to unit, some are variable others static).
Water flows out at the preset temperature.

It is important to understand that there are 2 main operating types when it comes to gas water heaters.
Fixed temperature, where the temperature is set to a predetermined amount (eg 55 DegC)
Variable, where the flame and flow are set, but if the input water temperature varies, then it directly effects the output temperature. (eg. Summer and winter would have different temperatures.)
